Lovely choice Jim. I like the Panzer IV very much as although not as famous as the tiger it had a versatility all of its own. More mass produced then the Tiger and also it's chassis could be adapted to house a variety of weapons.

I'll be watching this one

Looking good Jim (I know practically nothing about armour but I think you should be weathering the bit behind the wheels and cogs before adding them )( I weather all parts and sub assemblies before attaching them then again after to blend them in) I think you will find it very hard after you've added them jim

Looking good James nice clean build so far, just an observation if you don't mind, if you are going to paint and weather it It would be much easier doing the lower hull at this stage, it just makes the whole process much easier than trying to weather it with the tracks attached.

Personally, I haven't built a 1/35 tank since my late teens / early twenties, seeing all this heavy metal on the late has raised an itch.

Nice work on the weathering James and I like the sprockets with looks like encrusted dirt on them ( really do like that touch. Your really putting slot of work in this

Hi Jim you need to think about where the weathering would take place (I know next to nothing about armour ) but where most of the wear would be is where you have left clean, look at the back wall behind the wheels you have weathering in the middle but where the wheels will be it's clean which is where most of the grim would be( not sure if I've explained it well but I'm sure otheres will do so better than me.

Hi James I was thinking on your weathering as poss others have suggested also. Not sure if you have a mark in mind to replicate from but I used several pictures for mine. I found on the teeth of the track I rubbed a graphite pencil over the tips as the running track would also replicate. If doing a mud finish which looks lovely by the way what you have achieved, some mud splatter would accumulate on the top runners inside and outside. It may make some sense too to look at agricultural tracked vehicles in fields like caterpillars as the mud splatter would be easy to see. I'm not an armour builder per say but this is research I did for my Panzer 4 ( desert scene ) profile pic
