It’s always fun when:—

… they’re installing fibre-optic cables in your street (the green ones), and the digger tears your phone/ADSL line in half … That was yesterday morning, and the repair man only just finished putting it back together maybe half an hour ago.

Especially fun because the same thing happened a few months ago, when the whole street was being resurfaced.

We have an electrical sub station thing in our street. They subcontract out for the bushes to be cut. Last year the really nice chap who came cut a wire with his hedge cutters. Luckily we were only without internet/phone for a couple of hours.

Same in the UK Jakko, contractor for British Telecom cut through everything. No Internet, phone for 6 hrs, when finally repaired the phone did not work correctly for weeks, the caller sounded like a dalek lol. Made a complaint along with other neighbours and got a nice payment!

When I was having my land line installed the guy said I gotta get something out the van ,back in a sec!...2hrs later he came back with someone who could actually do the job.

Had it where I use to work in the UK, doing work at the railway station and a digger ripped the internet and telephone cables apart. No telephone or internet for a week in a large part of town. Work was an absolute nightmare for a week. Had to hand write sheets for the courier as could not connect to their system and print the labels, had To buy some mobiles to take customer calls and place orders. Amazing how much we rely on the internet these days.
