Well, here goes nothing! My first attempt at a diorama. Packed to the hilt with schoolboy errors - I got too distracted by the positioning of figures to look good, forgetting that they all had a job!! Doh! Plus I lost the loader, need I go on? But, and its a big but, I learned a fair bit doing this, and am keen to make more now. So I finished this up as best I could and am moving on. Be gentle...!

I think it looks very good John. Would it be annoying to say that the figures look a tad.... shiny?

ha ha, you've just reminded me - i never put the final flat coat on them... hangs head in abject shame!

Nice work John better than any of my diorama's, I like the fact you've put the tyre tracks in the sand, but I think some footprints wouldn't go amiss next time.
I'm not picking fault like I said a lot better than any diorama I've done.

The main thing is, you are at least having a bash at the Helter Skelter world of dio. creating. Your work can only get better.

You have learnt from this, your first, so with that stored in the cranium it's on to the next.

Thanks Ron, all I can say is that I enjoyed this as much and more than any other build, and will take my skills learned and put them to good use on the next one. Lots of visual research now for some North African ruins!

Hah, I did put footprints in there, but only to mark where the troops were going, good idea, duly noted!

Just given them all a coat of AK ultra Matt, and they do look a whole lot better!

The shiny uniforms struck me too. But apart from that, I really like it. You've definitely captured an animated moment of action, I love the way that it immediately says 'there's things going on'.

I've never done a diorama, but would like to give it a go sometime. I'd be delighted if my first effort is as good as yours. I doubt it tho'

One last suggestion that you could do without too much hassle, maybe give the sandbags a bit of a 'dusting'. If you know what I mean.

Looks good john ever thought of using pastels on your figures. I tried it on my GB diorama figures I'm quiet impressed with the way they turned out

A great diorama and a great looking scene it looks spot on to me and if you enjoyed building it then that's good enough isn't it.
The motorbike ( BMW?) looks really nice and sets the scene up really well I think ( bringing in new orders etc )
I like the colours too really blends in with the colours of the desert

Thanks for the comments, and yeah, dust would add quite a lot to it, and I might just do that before re shooting. Mind you, if I just leave it on the shelf for a bit...

Thanks for the kind words! I am hooked, but the process is such a different it is a bit of a culture shock. The actual model is almost a sideshow!
