Yes Tony, I love the Extra Dark Sea Grey/Dark Slate Grey/Sky scheme too.
Looking at the pic you can see a hint of the problem I had because I did not put the lid on the airbrush cup..... It looks worse than it actually is but will all be fine once the matt coat is laid down.

After the gloss coat I did a panel line wash with AK Enamel washes. Then after the first matt coat I applied some pigments and more localised washes followed by another matt coat.

The I dry brushed Yellow Chromate in areas of high wear where tomorrow I wil apply chipping with Uschi metal powder. Nice that they found MRP can be dry brushed!!

You can see it is quite subtle. It will look better after the chipping.

This is how the underside looks

Looking great now barry , no signs of the trauma with the wing. Like tony ( the other one !) i also love the faa colour scheme , in fact seeing your corsair is making me want to start the airfix martlet in the stash! BTW , i got one of the molotow chrome markers like you recommended , and shown to me at the newark show by ben- they're amazing! So easy to do a chrome oleo leg now , cheers tony

They are also good Tony for lights..

Apologies about the photo below but I had to take it from below without turning the aircraft upside down because I have had to repair the wing yet again. The merest knock and it breaks...

Here it is glued back waiting for it to set.

A shot of how the underside looks now pretty much complete.

I have fixed the rear view mirrors to the canopy.

The backs will get a coat of black when dry.

I have been working on the chipping and wing paint wear using the Uschi Metal powders apppied with a cocktail stick

Also kerosene leaks and spills using the AK product which gives the right sheen.

Note that I have carried the weather over into the rounders. Still a bit of work on those to do.

That looks the business Barry, I must order some of that stuff, looks really natural, worn rather than chipped, which, I guess is more accurate. Also, the scale of the model lends itself to this level of detailing (guess who's just orderd his first 1/32 plane?).

What have you ordered John?

Please excuse some of the wording in my last post. That’s the problem with posting on an iPhone, auto-correct getting more wrong than right as usual and not just changing typos but changing what I spelt properly to something else. Hopefully you get my meaning.

Tamiya A6M2 - like the one you've recently built. Not entirely sure I'm up to the job yet, but will give it my best shot! I wanted a kit that I could do all the markings with paint, and it looks like a perfect one for that. Also, that IJN Grey with a hit of green looks to me to be a perfect canvas for subtle weathering.

A very good choice. It is a complex kit but not complicated and it’s by no means hard. Just keep a close eye on the instructions and take it steady I am sure that you will get a result to be proud of. Both AKI and Vallejo have IJN sets with the right colours. Vallejo have Aotake as a clear colour to be sprayed over a metallic aluminium.

The Corsair is finished and I have one quick pic. I will do a completed thread when I get a chance.

What a beauty! I'm just coming to the finish of my 1/48th kit of the same model - these planes are a totally new challenge for me!!
