Well ive just bought this on DVD if it's any good and it will have to be really good then I will upgrade to blu ray but I'm not expecting it to be , I bet there's a loudmouth, a scared guy a hero guy and a nutter in the carrecters
I've just read the back and Pitt is called wardaddy, now I know it's going to be rubbish and I think I've found the hero !
I think I heard Wardaddy once throughout the whole movie and not till 2nd watching besides I personally think the tanks and other ww2 era vehicles are the real stars and that main reason IMO makes it worthwhile, of course touches of Hollywood do exist but it is a movie after all

The tanks are really the only reason I want to see it , I like to see the choreography and the detail of movement the tanks make , I do understand that they used real tanks for this but sometimes it's really noticeable when they use the mock ups

All the vehicles are genuine they've done no messing about on that score

Dave

They will have made mock ups for shell hits and so fourth, I doubt very much they would blow up the only functioning tiger 1 in the world :D

Well ive seen it now and it was just what I expected , a typical American take on WWII where they won the war with one tank and a knife , it was enjoyable though but I won't upgrade to blu ray

Now, Now, Chris, must I come over and rub your tummy?

Thought it was a good film, couldn't believe how much space there is inside a Sherman, seemed loads of room, can think of better ways to go than lose your head to a round from a Tiger :( :(

I dunno, wouldn't think he felt anything.

More room than you could possibly imagine Steve.....How else could a potato masher explode inside a Sherman and Mr. Pitt's hair, face and uniform stay perfect.

May have been turnip mashers :) Also 10 lb shaped charge panzerfaust would have created a lovely "Mixed Grill" beforehand

Watched it few days ago, overall is great action movie!!! Mr. Pitt's hair gel is really superb for 1945

Well sorry to be contrary chaps but I thought it was a dreadful film, the only exception being some nice tanks. I strongly expect the true story it was based on, of which I was unaware until I read this thread, would be much more interesting.

Luckily we (the allies) won the war and I won't get sent to a camp for disagreeing with everyone else :)

Cheers

Steve

I bought it on Saturday.

Watched it that evening...and although it passed a few hours, it wouldn't be a film I'd watch again, and one of the reviews on the box says something similar to "Best War film since Saving Private Ryan"...whoever said that (IMO) was talking out of their rear end.

I find it very hard to believe that even with limited battle harden troops...3-4 Tiger's, various anti tank weapons and an SS battalion etc....that the Germans seemed to be portrayed as a rather useless fighting force.

I think I'll watch it again just to enjoy the all be it being rather far fetched action

This would have been a much more realistic movie if we Brits had made it which sakes the question why we don't make any war films anymore
