Afternoon

I have started the Revell 1/32 Bf 109 G 10, after some advice please.

I am about to join the 2 fuselage halves, read a bit about sorting out the seam but whats the best way to keep the rounded shape?? Also i assume you sort out the seam before adding the wings / tailplanes etc!

Hi Bob
Check your references with this one, I think, though I am not absolutely sure, that the e 109 actually had a seam running down the spine of the fuselage, so you might fill something that is supposed to be there....
To answer your question though, to keep the rounded shape, sand gently at about a 45 degree angle to the seam. If you sand directly perpendicular to it, or directly along it, you will risk turning the shape into a threepenny bit..or new pound for the younger readers....
I personally would sort the seam first, both on the fuselage and the wings, just means less handling when you finally join them...

Many thanks Tim, will check ref the seam? This is only the 2nd aircraft in about 40 yrs as i usually make Stug's

Bob

Just to add, sponge type sanders are good for this type of work as they conform to the shape you are sanding.

Hammer and chisel all the way Bob:tongue-out2:
Hope your well mate...great to see you building a wingy thing. Got a 109 in the stash I’m itching to build:thinking::smiling4:

Hi Si, being a truck tech got some of them lol good kit (no expert)

Had the flu which is doing the rounds, however turned into pnuemonia so 4 days in hospital!

I use sponge sanders, but also use hard backed sanders (bits of wood with emery paper stuck to them) as they can give better control in some situations, stopping you sanding a hollow, for example....

Yeah, "BobtheBf109G10" doesn't roll off the tongue so well! :smiling5:

Yes, there's a panel line running down the spine of the 109.
