discussion GB - Group Build?

Another newbie question, sorry!
What exactly are the group build threads all about?
Is this a competition or do peeps make a model that forms part of a bigger build?
Or do peeps all build the same model?
Bit confused by it all ATM.

Not a silly question at all mate...
A G.B. is simply just a subject that we can all join in and build at the same time,(normally a 3 month time span),it doesn't have to be the same kit as others, but just fit the criteria... I.E. ... "Japanese WW2 Aircraft"..
... Just chose your preferred kit and join in
Simple as that.

The idea is that you blog your model as you go along to show your progress........................

It's also expected to show pictures of the box, sprues and any AM parts you may want to add before you start.

Kits are supposed to be unstarted but if you buy one second hand that's had a few bits put together that's usually acceptable; but you should check with whoever has organised the build just to make sure that's OK.
