SO lee i gather you liked the Fruehauf trailers ? well in my opinion i think we built them to good so we did ourselves out of our jobs as they were lasting to long but it was nice to take pride in my work welding an on some they had to pass an xray test to check for any cold welds an to think well good job done

Fruehauf in my book is one of the Best trailers made I would hook on to a beat up raged out Fruehauf Piggyback trailer and it still pulled like I was Bobtailing and still would track good. The 40’ container chassis’s pulled the same. Here’s a pic of my old Cabover I owned back in 1995 I think the chassis was Fruehauf

The Ever Given has been removed! I imagine the canal will have to be checked & dredged to clear up that area, but it will be open soon - there now being 370 ships waiting to transit ( and counting ). The Ever Given will have to be thoroughly checked for damage - in drydock, I guess, to see if all that grounding, pushing & pulling has distorted anything!
Now, of course comes the question of Whose Fault? - which will answer who picks up the tab?

Yes it is. When I owned that truck I chromed it up I was 26 years old when I had that truck

I was watching the Belgian news today, and it had a report from a maritime academy where they tried the incident in their ship’s bridge simulator. One of the teachers remarked that the recommended speed in the Suez canal is 8 knots, while the Ever Given was apparently doing almost 13. Its navigation data showed it to eventually be snaking through the canal, probably because of suction caused by getting too close to the sides at too high a speed.

'Canal effect' is a weird thing that has caused many collisions in confined waterways - we once got sucked into a pier by a larger ship coming out of a lock on the Panama Canal. The pier was actually built to prevent ships coming together, so it worked. 13 knots ( 15mph ) sounds a little fast for a ship that has a huge turning circle, and no brakes! 6 knots was the maximum when I used to go through it ( 40 odd years ago ) - any faster, and it caused the erosion of the banks.......
