Geoff’s Tamiya 1/48 Bristol Beaufighter Mk.VI

Thread owner
Hello,

After my last post, I have given it a coat of silk varnish as I decided to use a Flory wash to weather it and they tend to be difficult to remove over a flat coat.

I used a Dark Dirt wash and as I didn’t want it to be over weathered most of it was removed with a series of damp cotton buds and kitchen towel.

After this I used some oils to create some gun staining.

The machine gun ports were covered with some cut sections of red decal and I cut some plain paper to cover the cannons ports. This was then painted red to recreate the dope they used on these areas.

I found this picture on line which is the actual Beaufighter I’m modelling.

It was a staged PR photo and has been colourised but it gave me more of an idea of how to finish it.

After this all the smaller parts, aerials, pitot tube and propellers were glued into place and I am now calling it finished.

It’s been an enjoyable build, I’ll post up some better pictures in the finished aircraft thread later.

Thanks for looking 👍

Geoff.
