We're still adding weights wherever we can. This is the nosewheel:

We may only get a few grams in here, but as it's right at the front it counts for much more than weights just in front of the main wheels. (5 grams here counts as about 50 grams in the front of the nacelles).

You'll notice we're doing a lot of switching about between painting and building. I'm trying to do things in short stages time-wise to help PJ keep his concentration up. He's gonna need it for the cockpit decals next week!

Hi PJ and Dave
All looking very good. Cockpits always seem very fiddly and so take a lot of time.

Excellent painting chaps.

..... and I just adore those cute coloured pegs

You're so right Ron! I only bought 'em 'cos they look so d****d cute! But wouldn't you know it? They work really great too.

Back again.

Not many pics recently as we had a couple of weeks off during the hols and most of our progress has been tiny decals in the cockpits.

Anyway, here's mine so far:

Cockpit and seam work on the nacelles.

and the same for PJ:

PJ also had to re-do his radio as he didn't realise he had decals:

You've already seen us starting to put weights in to stop this beastie tail sitting. I added some sheet lead to recesses on both sides of the cockpit - held in place with some strips of plasticard as I've read somewhere that superglue and lead combined can affect the plastic.

We also added a LOT of weight to the engine nacelles - using lead shot poured to about 25mm deep than covered with lots of PVA. No pics I'm afraid as I forgot to get them before we put the nacelles and wheel bays in place.

We now have about 240 grams of weights each hidden in the front tyre, on the cockpit sides, the engine nacelles, the radio and the prop hubs (I've got a breakdown of the individual weights if anyone wants it). Early balance tests show we should be OK. I've worked out how to reinforce the nose wheel and I'll put that up next time.

Hi Dave and PJ
Looking neat and tidy from both of you. Cockpit decals always look good. Glad you sorted the weights now as it is not something you can add at the end. Bet you're both enjoying this.
