Here are the parts from my new hoov...... dropship/assault vehicle/troop carrier. I'll be using other stuff as well, but this will supply the basic body.

I've got the main structure pictured in my head (of all the stupid places I could have kept it, I just had to pick the one where it's most likely to get lost!). I'll post as many pics as I can so you can all see what I'm doing and hopefully do two things:

1) Tell me how I can fix things if I run into problems

2) Make design suggestions which I can shamelessly steal and claim for my own.

this is going to be very interesting indeed Dave,

cannot wait to see how you true that into a space ship,

Looking good dave liked the film looking foreward to seeing this finished (and the hoover i mean drop ship).

It's not a space ship Moni. It's a carrier for deploying troops on the ground and providing heavy armoured cover for them.

I've got the command bridge started and created platforms for front and rear gun turrets - pics up tomorrow.

Dave, I wait in suspenders ... damn! uh hum * deep voice * in suspense to see how you make a Hoover into a dropship!

OK folks, some pics.

I started off with the bit on the handle where you wrap the cable:

This becomes the command bridge with the addition of some Plasticard:

The main handle where this cable support was mounted gets cut down and a couple of recesses are cut for fore and aft turrets:

Some more Plasticard to seal off the cut parts of the handle, and we have the command tower:

I have some rockets c/w launch rails and a laser cannon to mount on the roof of the bridge. I'm thinking of using some small plastic caps for the turrets but I'm trying to come up with something a bit more exiting than simple tubes to represent cannon/lasers.

I'll be pimping the major structures as I go with boxes, hatches and 'fiddly bits' once I've cleaned up what I've done so far.

You know this sort of stuff would be absolutely perfect for the armament and 'fiddly bits' on my build ....

.... it's just a pity I didn't manage to pick the right six numbers yesterday!

Some more done today.

Had to take the rear wheels off as I need to do some work on them. They will be seen and while it may be unlikely that a vehicle like this would have such big wheels, there's no way they would be built like this!

Had to build a platform for the bridge structure and work out how to support it. I may add more support later but for the moment:

Finally, I got the deck started and did some pimping on the bridge. It's beginning to take shape:

I think the command tower is just about done now.

I'm not too happy with the smaller rocket launchers, I may move them but I'll have to find something to replace them if I do.

I also got my Bugs sprayed and removed the masking from one. There's a lot of fiddly touching up to do, but I think they'll look OK.

It's funny, but I didn't think my original Bug - Kay Tee - was frightening. Maybe because he's impossibly big. I can more easily visualise a swarm of these smaller bugs attacking some lonely traveller deep in the South American jungle somewhere!

I had thought of maybe taking this to Cosford if they got a 'Novelty' section in their competition.

If I did, the title would be:

"Where is he? I'll kill the b****r!"

Why?

"Dad! Dad! Come and look what this man's made!

Hey dad! Come and look! Over here dad! Come on dad!"

"What am I supposed to look at son?"

"Look at that great big space tank dad! The man made it from an old Hoover, dad!

Go on dad! You could do that, dad! Just like building your models dad!

Will you make me one, dad?

Go on, dad! Please dad!

Go on dad! You make lots of things and mum's got an old Hoover in the garage you could use!

Go on dad! I know mum was only going to throw it away!

Go on dad! You could make one of those 'cos you're ever so good at making tanks dad!

Go on dad! Make me one please! Please dad!

Go on dad! You got that big box of bits you could use for the guns and things!

Go on dad! I need one to go with all my spacemen, dad!

Go on dad! It wouldn't take you long!

Go on dad! Will you dad? Please dad?

Go on dad ..........."

I was only joking about needing to pick the right six numbers ....

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Transformers-G1-parts-job-lot-SPARES-or-REPAIR-/351217909184?pt=UK_ToysGames_ActionFigures_ActionFigures_JN&hash=item51c637fdc0

.... but apparently I was right!

I like the look of this Dave, very very clever regarding the hoover parts. Top work mate, this should look really good once finished...no loss of suction either...bug death!

Si:)
