Gerry's Trumpeter 1/35 Armoured Aerosan

A lot of fiddly, small etch parts, but you seem to be managing them Gerry, nice work.

Seeing all those parts don't think you will be concerned about doing PE in the future Gerry, you've done well :thumb2::thumb2::thumb2::thumb2::thumb2:

And --- let's not forget no plan survives first contact with the enemy ... !

So far, it's worked, but only got the first ski done - we'll see!

It's not going too badly - at the moment.

It's certainly an 'introduction of fire' into the world of PE - not sure what I was expecting, but it wasn't the hours of peering at/fitting the bits that has been/is being involved :upside::nerd::nerd: (no magnifier smiley!)

Gerry,
All looking mighty fine. You handle the PE like a seasoned veteran.
Thanks for the compliment Paul - true that I'm not 'scared' of it, just that I'm taking the advice of the more experienced folks on here that do know their stuff, and taking time to have a break from it and taking it slowly.
And on that note....

Further update, two of the skis are assembled, (still working with the magnifiers) all of those little bits of PE are making them appear 'better', I think!

You can just make out the springs on top of the ski, will just need to get some paint onto them to bring them out a bit - the downer on those springs, is that they're so small that I haven't dared clean them up yet - hopefully the CA will hold them when I gently rub them with a file!

Hi Gerry
Great update. The pe work is fine and adds to the look of those skis.
Jim

Good grief they look small alright Gerry. Well done mate., they certainly look the part.

Yes John, they are small - 3x2mm max I'd say after the folds had been done. I'm putting a 'blob' of the CA (Gorilla gel) onto a tin, then carefully holding the part by the 'web' part in the finest tweezers I've got, touching each of the contact faces, then applying it to the ski - seems to be working. But working late last night and again tonight, then all through the weekend so won't get a chance to get any bench time for a few days.

Got the skis on, just getting to the point of splashing the final coat of paint on it, as I'm thinking the engine will make things awkward.

next step is to get the engine done - lots of fiddly bits involved with that, though these will be plastic, and not PE

Good progress Gerry! :thumb2:
Thanks Rick - hoping to get a few more hours on it this week - as work is going crazy next week onwards, not sure what's happened to the other 98 people that they employ, but the mrs and me are seemingly working every shift (money's handy though! ;) )

As said, working on the engine,

crank area - 18 parts

The 5 cylinders are next on the list! (Tweezer tips on right) still got to clean the parts up, but giving the eyes a rest!
