Have been working on a little dio of Greece in 1942. Nothing spectacular, just a square board.

It has plaster cast columns, distressed, tiles added of various sizes, walling, rocks etc. Has been primed, then painted in scrumble varnish, this has been left till tacky and a cream emulsion added-this has been dragged down then a soft toothbrush has been used to enhance the look. A grey filter was and then a tan filter wash has been added. I looks shiny as it is still drying.

Once dry it will have some more highlights added and then one or two 1/72 Tigers added just trundling past.

Si:)

That's a nice base Si, not something we see very often.

Not sure I'd use Tigers though, to the best of my knowledge they weren't deployed in Greece being needed on more active fronts.

very nice looking base Si, do like the concept of it ,nice to see some much diffidence well done

I always know when I see eddiesolo at the start of a dio it is going to be great and I have not been disappointed great work Si

I think you are correct Patrick, will see if I can do a Panzer III or similar.

Glad you like it though.

Thanks guys, hopefully it will dry soon and then it will be highlighted, and then I shall start on the tank/s.

Can't go wrong with a 3 mate, they were everywhere at every stage.

Have you gone with the panzer III ?
Yes, plus some figures! I hope this works Alan...I'm taking an awful risk.

I shall use the Tigers for something else.

Why wouldn't it work , the III will look much better and more authentic I don't see any problems :)

I either do figures okay...or more often than not they look like a melon up the bum...I suppose in 1/72 doesn't really mind though as it is more highlights.

1/72 will look good as unless your five inches from them the detail isn't going to show and I think if you over compensate on the detail so you can see it it looks out of scale

Top work on those columns Si. Really nice effect.

If you're at all worried about the finished figures ( I don't see why mind) do what I do....Paint them, then sprinkle them lightly with polyfilla powder and blow off the excess.....instand Greek dust!! This method hides a multitude of sins - certainly in my case!
