HI Peter what is it that bad ? an i gather you bought this kit from someone eles then an they made the bodge up then by not getting things right in the build is that the case ?
chrisb

It's a shame Peter, especially after so much work. If the basics of the build are faulty then the further you go with it the more problems will show up.

What I will be doing after I have done my build that I am working on is I will dispense with most of the small pe(its doing my head in anyway) and just finish anything that has been constructed and just and finish it with most of the bigger pieces.

Right I have decided to go a different route as with my last lot parts I purchased there is enough to almost build the whole ship so here is skeleton built up to number 5 magazine
So it's probably going to end up as a complete build from the beginning IMG_20230820_151354.jpg

I have finished the skeleton and started the planking this is going to be a mix of the old and new IMG_20230821_170325.jpgIMG_20230821_193031.jpg

I’ve just stumbled on this blog. No pun, but the build up was brilliant then right at the end!! What blow.
However, glad you have managed to source and resurrect this epic project.

I just looked at the pic of the original framing and I can see that a lot of tops of frames are broken and everything looks out of line resulting in a Hull that looks like thisIMG_20230822_110354.jpgIMG_20230822_110351.jpgIMG_20230822_110346.jpgIMG_20230822_110342.jpg

I have finished the first round of planking and I can tell its going to be better as it looks like it only going to need minimal sanding IMG_20230822_173210.jpg

After three days constant planking the first layer is finished just needs sanding ready for the top layer. IMG_20230825_191513.jpgIMG_20230825_191507.jpgIMG_20230825_191501.jpgIMG_20230825_191522.jpgIMG_20230825_191519.jpgIMG_20230825_191517.jpg

That looks very nice Peter. Doing this first layer as well as you can will minimise sanding and hopefully make the next layer of planking easier. Are the next layer of planks thinner than the first layer.

They are half the thickness of the first layer

Almost ready to start the second layer of planking I have finished the deck plating better than the first time round although the edges don't line up but sanding should sort it out. IMG_20230827_100634.jpgIMG_20230827_100630.jpgIMG_20230827_100627.jpgIMG_20230826_190118.jpg

COR Peter this bissy is big enough to sail an fit R/C in bet it would look great on the wet stuff but i think its gonna be static isnt it so why do you need double layer of plankin ?

why do you need double layer of plankin
The second layer is very thin and also there are resin pieces for the bow and stern witch are larger than the first layer and the second layer gives the whole Hull a better finish as you can get the planks laying together with no horrible filling
