It looks a good film with a good story behind it.

One thing strikes is the aerial combat scenes are way to obviously CG. Extreamly well done but none the less to obvious. Could this be a pit fall of Digital HD? I have noticed that CG films which I love are great on a normal TV but put them up on a Digital HD screen and the sharpness is so sharp its breathtaking. In a film which is ALL CG its a fantastic experience but mix CG and real life the differences are so noticeable I find it sometimes distracts.

Talking of new Films and WWII anyone know what happened to the re-make of the Dam busters?

That looks like a great film and I am looking forward to it but in those clips one thing jarred and I am not sure of its accuracy.

A P51 Mustang was shown shooting down a ME262 jet.

I thought that the first and only time a jet was shot down by a prop fighter was in Korea by a Sea Fury - does anyone know?

There was also a great number of ME262s in the clip, I didn't know they were used in combat in such great number. I think they exaggerated the facts to show how great a foe they were fighting against... and beating it. Hmmm...

Lets hope that the dogs name is the only thing they have changed. I must say that I was both surprised and pleased to learn that Steven Fry is doing the screen play!!!

The 332nd FG were credited with 3 ME-262 kills - according to wikipedia.

More worrying is that all of the bomber formations in the trailer were marked up as the 381st bomb group - who were based in England and would never have been escorted by the 332nd FG who were based in Italy and escorted the 12th and 15th AAF. Poor.

If they are doing everything with CGI wouldn't be easy to just be true to history? It's ok to dramatize things but why mess up all the facts?

Wow what a coincidence, I was thinking last nite about what my next project should be and I was looking at the Tuskegee pilots website for insparation. Cant wait to see this film.

Why? Is steven fry a notable expert in this field, screenplays and the dambusters? I can't in this case, CGI aside and given the target audience of this movie I doubt they'd care, see why a perfectlly good movie has to be remade.

I just happen to like Mr. Fry. Probably one of the few people alive in England today that still speaks English like wot is woz in the war. The need to be an expert in the field to be able to write a good screen play is besides the point. They are not after all writing the story, they are scripting it.

As Far as I am aware the dambusters film is CGI free. Other wise I cant see why they would go to the bother of building full size (non-flying) Lancasters

I agree, I was pleased when I heard it was Stephen Fry too. He is the Archetypical English Gent. I hope this means he will prevent it being too "hollywooded" and after seeing him interviewed about making it he seemed to have a real passion about Barnes Wallis's achievement.

If it brings an amazing piece of history to a new younger audience I don't see the problem with it being remade either.

Fair enough, I genuinely wondered if steven fry had some connection with the dambusters, that's all.I would argue being able to write a good screenplay is most relevant in the case of any movie wishing to be a good one.I cannot for a second believe the remake will be CGI free however, scale lancs on the ground fair enough, but the bombing runs, practise at Ladybower and the opportunity to get some closeups of the bomb in action will be much easier to recreate in CGI than sets.

Plenty of Me262s shot down by piston engined fighters. The P-47 even got some.

Hopefully the dambusters won't be too Hollywooded. Peter Jackson knows a thing or two about aircraft. He's the man (money) behind Wingnut Wings which,according to WWI modellers,make some very good kits indeed. He's a Kiwi too so that gives me hope.

Maybe Fry will keep the Dambusters script "in period". You know the red tails movie will look at all the side issues of race etc through modern eyes or,worse,ignore them.
