Looking good dave, sometimes you can get away with a bit of chipping over the decals too. You mention youre thinking about a rufe? these did actually have a primer- a red oxide, and quite a bit better applied and more hardwearing than the zeroes. They did of course suffer from wear but maybe not as much as other jap aircraft and an important thing to remember is to add a bit of red oxide chipping as well as the nat metal.
