:busted_red:Hi all i have yet another question, if you want to give the apperence of movement in aircraft could this be done by removing the propeller blades?

It can be, and there is a great example on here somewhere where the spinner has been fitted with the prop blade holes filled in. You other way would be to buy photo etch prop blurs, again discussed elsewhere on here but I would suggest you google prop blurs for some pics. Some love 'em, others hate them. I haven't really made my mind up yet.

i used to take off the blades and replace it with a circle of clear plastic with a couple of wiggley lines painted on. It looked good when i was 12, but it might need a bit of refinement to pass the standard of this forum!!

Interesting question. Sorry i couldn't be of any real help though.

Hey!!! Just google'd 'prop blurs', and found this post. It recommends the clear disc idea circa 1976!!!!

Fantastic!!!! LOL

I'm one for filling the spinner and leaving the blades off. I came to this conclusion after watching some P-51s whizz past me at a Duxford show. The Propblurs do look good,my alternative used to be a "scratched" acrylic disc which,in hindsight, looked crap!

Gentlemen thanks for the imput i think i will leave the prop blades off and fill the gaps in the spinners. The kit iam working on is the airfix 1/72 lancaster(617 squadron) this come with a portion of the Moehne dam, the box looks good only thing to let it down is the prop blades.

cheers again

I seem to vaguely remember that one of the plastic kit manufacturers in the 60's used to supply a clear plastic disc as a "spinning" prop.

if you google propblur as opposed to prop blur you get some other options

before next build, check out propblur dot com to see my photoetched PropBlurs. 2 varieties - single blades (original PropBlurs) and On-Hub. everyone has different tastes, but you can check out the customer pics on the last page of my simple site and see if you like this look. Just an option. Cheers.
