Hi guys, hope this is the right place for this but doing a bit of research pre-build. I've scoured the www with no joy - I received various Aires parts today for my A-10 build (big thanks to John for getting them to me so quick and well packed), and the pit comes with a photoetch plate for the dials, and also a 2nd "square plastic film" (PP4348) with cockpit dials on it. I've gone through the instructions and apparantly the "square plastic film" dials should be applied first, followed by the metal ones.

My question is, this first section (PP4348) is just a square, do I have to cut the template out from it? stick it to the dash, then repeat over that with the metal.

Also, secondly - do I paint over the metal once done as it looks like they have all the detail engraved on them and would not be seen when painted but the fact is, thier not meant to be metallic, they're meant to be black!

Apologies in advance for the doppy question!

Sand all the detail off the plastic kit part for the instrument panel.

Paint it white.

paint and detail the PE panel.

Glue the film with the dials onto the plastic panel. when 100% dry cut to the shape of the panel.

Use a clear pva, microset kristal of some such to glue the PE panel onto the top of the plastic part/film.

Fill the dials with a blob kristal clear and when dry you will have glass in them...

Just check that the holes in the PE part are lined up with the printed dials BEFORE you glue things together.

Ian thanks a million - great advise. I suspected that it was an either / or situation - either paint details as normal or sand off and use the PE. Just to clarify the plastic kit part isn't the standard kit, it's part of the resin kit. So it may actually have no details anyway - i just wasn't sure about the cutting out so thanks!
