discussion HELP WITH OLD DECALS

HI GUYS well as the the hustler is now goin well i will soon be wanting to use the old decals an some of you forget who say my decals will splinter as they are near 60 yrs old so told me to buy some microsol liquid so souppose i just brush it on the decals an do i need to be very carefull an just brush near the edge or can i paint it all over the decall s edge ? thanks if you can help me

Old decals

With age the varnish/backing gets brittle.

Lay your decals on a flat surface and mask the corners.

Then spray the decal with gloss varnish and leave to dry.

Once dry you can then cut/trim around the part of the decal you want to attach to your model.

Soak as normal and apply the decal, and then use the micro sol/set system.

DO NOT brush Micro sol onto the decal first as this will cause the decal to disintigrate. The gloss varnish will hold the decal.

Didn't you buy Microscale Liquid Decal Film Chris? Just brush it onto the part of the decal you want. If you go onto the backing paper you'll need to carefully cut round the decal before putting it in water or you'll have masses of clear decal film going everywhere.

CHEERS GUYS for the info on the decal film an yes i did pete i bought microsol liquid decal film well guys ive got two differnt answers here so will both answers work ok ?

You have a choice Chris. Either brush it over the decal only, avoiding the paper between decals, or cover the whole sheet as Oveerscale said, but then you'll have to cut around each individual decal.
