Had a great day at the show, pleasure to meet you Dave (Gern) and thanks for helping me spend my pocket money. I have been thinking of going over to 1:48 armour, based on the really interesting range that Tamiya have as well as a few others. I took the opportunity at the show to get my first kit of 48 armour, a Tamiya Marder III, much to Dave's disgust lol. However, in my defence the other three kits I bought were in 1:35 which I am looking forward to building as I need a break from aircraft.

I will leave it to Dave to mention if he got anything or not. I had a great day, good show, good traders, reasonable coffee (all the stirring sticks were left well alone lol) and good company.

Here are some pictures from the show. The rather delightful 'Mrs Santa Clause' was taken at Dave's insistence (he said he knew I would blame him ;-)

Mornin' all,

I too had a thoroughly enjoyable day thanks to a good show and great company. Thanks Graham, it was really nice to have someone to talk 'model' with!

Alas I have no pictures. I took lots - but I had a bad case of 'The Shakes' and not one has turned out. Bummer! I'll have to see about getting a skyhook next time so I got somewhere firm to rest the camera!

Those of a nervous disposition - especially large scale modellers - should close their eyes now. Here's a list of what I managed to get:

1/35 Tamiya M8 Greyhound

1/35 Revell 10t milgl 8x8 truck

1/150 Trumpeter Chinese missile boat (Nothing brilliant here but a snip at £8)

1/48 Revell B-58 Hustler

1/48 Italeri Hercules Gunship

1/48 Trumpeter Wellington Mk 1c

1/32 Revell Sea Venom

And the cream of the crop:

1/32 Trumpeter Su 27

1/32 Tamiya F 14A c/w Aries cockpit, CAM decals and Eduard canopy mask. (I got one! I got me an F 14! Now if I can just find an A 10 and F 105 ....)

You nervous types can open your eyes now.

I was happy with what I paid but I wouldn't say I got them any cheaper than I could have on a good day from ebay. But the total was less than half of what I'd have had to pay in the shop so that's what I call a good day's shopping. And now I'm off to gloat over my purchases........

Gern

PS Mrs Santa was nowt to do with me, even though Graham hadn't spotted her until I forcefully dragged his attention away from Catwoman and she just happened to fall in his line of sight! He's just using me as a poor scapegoat in case Mrs Graham starts to worry!

PPS Graham - it was Citadel metallic colours you recommended wasn't it?

Graham I wish my photos would come out as good and clear as yours. Looks like you had a brill day.

Thread owner
We did indeed Colin. Yep Dave, Citadel or Games Workshop as they are also known, the Dwarf and Orc people

Great pics graham, looks like you had a good day. Dave, wow, what a haul! and you got the tomcat too. Theres some seriously BIG stuff there ,the b58 in particular being a fave of mine ,ive just never dared to get one- where would i put it when it was done?! cheers tony

Now I knew there was somewhere I had to be this weekend:damn: Its only 20 minutes away and I totaly forgot, though its seems that you had a good time and some beautiful models. Thanks for sharing, so whos going to post details of Mrs Santa then? (scale and make hehe)

Cheers Ade

Hi Tony,

Come to think of it, Graham said something similar about not having room for kits this size. Having bought them home and had a closer look, it turns out he's right. I'm struggling to find room to put the boxes - let alone any finished 'planes!

Looks like I'll have to build an extension on the house so I need some money.

I could keep my fingers crossed and hope some Nigerian contacts me with a request to transfer millions into a viable UK account. Or perhaps some recent widow is looking for a philanthropist to give serious amounts of money to. Or maybe I could get the notification that I've won a foreign lottery that I've never bought a ticket for. Failing that, I'll pop up to my local newsagent and ask if he's got a paper round!

Mind you, we do have an attic that's unused. Mmmmmmmm. Maybe a hint to SWMBO would help........

Never mind Ade. There's always the Coventry show on June 27th or Telford on 13/14 November.

Oh God, not more local shows, my pocket money cannot take much more lol. Don't know who made the Mrs Santa, to be honest I didn't pay it much attention...... :anicam: As for space Dave, I did keep pointing it out to you lol, the boxes he had were like small garages

What d'you mean you weren't paying much attention?! You were stood there transfixed for 20 minutes! It was as much as I could do to drag you away.

Yeah OK. The boxes were a bit like small garages. Trouble is, it's a LARGE garage I need to store 'em!

Looks like a good day and some great looking kits to be seen. I have already sent my wish list to santa asking for santa's helper to be delivered on Christmas day, I wonder what my wife will say if he delivers lol.

Hi Allan,

What scale did you ask for then? If it's 1:1 you'll definitely be in the deep doodah with your missus!

Fantastic photos there mate, kinda puts the (relatively) small Perth show into comparison! I am however, confused as to the nature of the "No number one, it's not Devonport" scene... anyone care to explain or is it some sort of in-joke, us Scots won't understand???

Yep, just a joke. It is a periscope sticking up through the ground..... OK, I suppose you had to be there to see the funny side lol. I just liked something so simple done just for fun.

Graham mate nice pics and iam glad to hear you managed to get your F14 although you don't appear to have much room to put it lol. I have ordered the Revell Memphis belle and an ME110 in 1/48 will be picking them up tomorrow. You look and sound like you had a great day nice one

It was Dave who got the F14 Scott, far too big for me lol

Some very nice models there Graham, thanks for the pics mate. Sorry for not being on for a bit, the modem has been going to sleep. Looks like someone got a nice selection of kits too Dave, looking forward to the C-130, will we see a build up matey?

Anyways, going now and see what i've missed, have fun, John

Hi John,

I won't be doing full build logs for all my kits - I spend far too little time actually building as it is, without taking away more from my available time writing and taking pictures! I do hope to be able to do progress pics for all and maybe some more detailed stuff for selected builds though. And I'll certainly be posting pics for those occasions where I need help!
