While gazing upon my work w/my first cuppa this morning I noticed to do train assembling I would foul the mainline repeatedly, so promptly redrew the Industry/Maint. Yard module w/main & passing tracks reassigned. This will necessitate adding a turnout but shouldn't require any wiring changes. The change will also streamline activity around the grain elevator & tank farm complex when they are installed. PaulE

I was consumed by the flow of the continuous run so didn't pay much attention to the integration of mainline traffic to train building of locals, etc. Just goes to show the value of first cuppa and planning, oh, and drawing your plans. The photos don't show how tough it is scraping PVA hardened ballast off of flake board w/o taking huge divots.

Industry Yard module in place. This is a very tight fit on three sides & cost me a fingernail the last time & some skin from my son-in-law this time. Much swearing/cursing is required w/judicious application of the BFH. Did some delayed electrical planning of 29 planned turn-outs and found wiring effort beyond what I'm willing to take on. So I'm going forward w/less than half the remote controlled turn-outs in the plan.
The pinch points for the Industry Yard module.....M.O.W. module, bookcase, & wall.

Need to finish up the M.O.W. section now.

Distracted by the empty corner, so started visualizing the Tank Farm. Two pipe kits (6" & 12"), loading platform kit (partially assembled), & some tanks & maybe tanks. Lwr. rt. of plywood you can see where the spur, passing track, & main enter the yard. I'll put a flange greaser here on the main. C&Cs welcome. PaulE

Haven't seen a flange greaser since I went "Railfaning" on the Tehachepi Loop in the '80s. Tightest curve I ever did see on an operating mainline. Like the idea of a tank farm. adds some real interest for night time operating if the lighting is done with that in mind. Have fun Paul. Rick H.

Thanks guys. Rick, I have some "grain of wheat" bulbs stashed somewhere. That's why I have wired the modules for switched 12 VDC as the intermodal yard, industry & M.O.W. modules are lit as well. The coal mine & elevator will be dark I think, due to being down to one shift. PaulE

OK guys im tryin to follow whats goin on but when you guys start talkin like this im lost on the jargon so please exsplain the above ? Rick I think I get this bit Railfaning" on the Tehachepi Loop that means that you were a railway fan an liked watchin the trains as they pulled slow around the Tehachepi Loop but flange greaser im lost on this ?

Chris, sharp curves like the "Loop" cause a lot of friction stress on the outside rails & wheel flanges. The grease reduces some of this stress by lubricating this rail and the wheel flanges pressing against it. Banking the curve bed/track helps, but the degree is limited by the high centers of gravity allowed and by load shift variables. HTHs. PaulE

Yes Chris...Railfans are some of the most interesting and crazy people I've ever had the pleasure of getting to know. When I lived in California and I was a member of the NMRA and a local Model Railroad club, there was an event held once a year called "Winter Rail". The event was held in a Huge hall with a Flea Market, Model Contests, Displays and an All Day Slide Show with non stop images of Rail Roads and related topics from mostly, but not limited to the U.S. All year long these people would travel the country searching for RxR topics to photograph with their trusty 35mm cameras.
