Here we have the Hobby 2000 kugisho E14y glen . Hobby 2000 are a subsiduary of Arma hobby and its releases have all been reboxes of other makers toolings but usually with a few added extras . This kit is a rebox of the Fujimi E14y with catapult plus added canopy masks .The E14Y was a reconnaissance / light attack floatplane , in this case submarine based . The i-7 submarine was equipped with a watertight hangar behind the conning tower and a catapult on the stern , the E14y glen having the distinction of the only axis aircraft to bomb mainland USA , albeit with small incendiaries and having little effect .
The kit is in a top opening box with a nice colour profile . There are 3 sprues for the aircraft and catapult and 1 clear sprue .
All the sprues are individually wrapped for protection , a nice touch. 98ED4683-4CE4-42C8-97FC-4E40358D361B.jpegB53A3923-546D-43F2-8476-A08F3E11F8C5.jpeg
Surface detail is well done with a mix of raised rivets and recessed lines with a nicely done fabric effect . The instructions are on a fold out single sheet with colour profiles for the two decal options and paint call outs for Gunze, Tamiya , Ammo, AK and Hataka. There are 2 parts on the clear sprue , a closed canopy and a ventral window . Masks are provided for these on the small black sheet . The decals are by Cartograf so should give no trouble and include the instrument panels and wing walks . 0FFCC495-6EF8-4693-83F6-634AB7DEC1EF.jpeg145851E8-00C6-455D-9E8F-A84DB8770C6F.jpeg343E10F7-6B2F-4256-AD66-BC27D6762206.jpeg
To sum up - a very nicely done package . The kit is finely detailed , maybe a bit basic in the cockpit but under a closed canopy at this scale ,perfectly adequate. The addition of the catapult section is a nice way of displaying the aircraft . Availability - its still listed on the Arma hobby website but says unavailable, perhaps waiting for stock . Price- listed as 13.75 euros from Arma hobby .

Looks like a great little kit....it's not dissimilar to an Arado in appearance.

Hi Tony
Interesting. Never heard of the kit maker or the plane. I had no idea a plane could operate from a submarine.
The kit looks very nice and certainly good value, if you can find one.

Yes the japanese had at least three types of sub with hangars for seaplanes . I first found out about this when I made the Tamiya Aichi Seiran a few years ago . That one was on the huge i-400 sub . When I do this one I might make a bit of sub deck to fit the catapult to . As for finding one , the only one I found on ebay was in japan and they were quoting £2200 for delivery !!!!!:dizzy:
