How do I glue together huge chrome pieces?

Hi, I have a 1é24 scale plated tanker from AMT, itès basically a huge oil truck. The main section of the trailer is all chrome, so I need to glue two chrome halves together. I just donèt want to damage the plastic. I know superglue will ruin the chrome, and i dont think normal glue would work either. any suggestions for something strong, but also easy on the chromeÉ thanks.
 
You can lightly sand the chrome off the contact areas and just use ordinary model glue but you will still need to be careful.

Is the join in a place that can be easily seen?
