No, not Mastercard or Amex. I was reading the 'When Do You All Find Time For Your Model Building ?' thread and not surprisingly, a lot of the build time was 'work permitting'. Which got me thinking...what does everybody do for a living? Its only fair for me to go first. I am a retired policeman. Before that, I worked in a operating theatre in Edinburgh where among my many duties, I was that butt of Jasper Carrott's jokes, the Willie Barber! I doubt anybody can have/had a more embarrassing job so how do or did you keep the wolves from the door?

I make malt whisky for a living. It pays alot better than the RAF ever did even after 17 years service

I work on a cruise ship in the Bahamas (Hence my location!). Someone has to do it, but, at the end of the day, it's still just a job.

I am an independent financial adviser, fee based and paid mainly for delivering a service and making investments work rather than the old fashion commission hungry sales driven type that have given my industry a bad name.

I'm "semi-retired" or "took early retirement" whichever way you want to look at it.

Worked through life as many things, including chef, adult tutor, primary teacher, electrician, putting some aside and finally got it together to form a computer company as managing director, went pair shaped after a merger and so fell back on the graphics company i always had running in the background.

2009 ... i just had enough of the rat race and so sold up and moved in with my new partner in a sleepy village in Scotland. Living off remnants and am a full time carer

At present Im a Hospital IT Administrator (but dependendant on the incoming Tax year/ budgets etc may soon NOT be), but an Environmental Scientist/Consultant by profession

Retired from, no gave up architecture as planning officers were trying to design my projects plus a racing car hit me & pulverised my pelvis into a further 3 un-authorised additional pieces. Physically recovered in 5 weeks but mentally takes a good few years. But gave a good foundation in financial terms architecture that is.

Took up producing films mainly weddings. Wedding Contracts this year --- nil.

But run with a partner two wedding fayres a year. 108 exhibitors & 400 brides this January. So that is the best yet probably due to the economic problems.

Just keeping head above water level. But a few more waves & the story may change ie down sizing again. That includes size of models. Not complaining (well yes a bit, sometimes a bit more) life is life.

I was in the Print for 23 years working first as a Scanner operator, then moved onto the Macs when computerisation hit. Then decided to change career.

I've been a train driver/instructor into Liverpool Street for the last 4 years.

Currently, when work is available I work in retail at a local toy superstore - not the great great job you think it sounds!!! And because of the current economic situation I have to sign on. By trade I was a mechanic for 20 years, but had to walk out because of a**ehole staff members and management!!!!!

For most of my life I have been a flight simulator engineer, but these days I am electronicist and all round wizard for a local magnetic bearings company. We make the bearings for the 27MW motor/pump sets used in the gas fields in Holland, so if your gas stops, that's probably my fault.

Worked as a butcher's boy from 12 then joined Parachute Reg got medical discharge after run in in NI, Disappered to Zim for a year to clear my head, Back in UK back to Butchers then got job with Dyson many jobs later in company ended up going to telford and becoming a Plastic press tech as Dyson got a load of sandreto presses, Made redundant, Drove recycling lorry's, But now I'm a Kept Man as i'm Disabled . Sorry to spoil a good story, but i get spoiled every now and then as the local model shop is close and huge.
