Now Model Airplane International and Model Railway Journal,Two of my children pay for the subscriptions every year as birthday presents. If I look for anything from magazines it is in depth reviews, you can quickly get the feel of which reviewers know what they are talking about, some of the online reviews can be of questionable value as you don't know the ability or knowledge of the modeller conducting the review,of course this can also occur in magazines, but if you buy the same magazine you tend to get to know the reviewers capabilities.

The one problem with using the internet as a resource for information is that sites disappear, SMAKR and Navis (I am not sure if that's the exact name) both well known modelling sites from the past, have long gone. Like wise when the Accurate Miniature's site folded all the extra information relating to their kits was lost,(not quite as I used the “way back machine” to down load what I required) because of this I tend to waste my money on books instead. "One good book is worth a thousand magazine articles" as someone once said.

I subscribe to Finescale Modeller magazine, for me they have some pretty good articles in there and also do nice reviews on forth coming kits. I guess I can justify the spend having no family to support :)
