I rekon I started when I was about 10 possibly a bit younger (with a brother 5 years older who only modelled occasionally) and built all sorts of aircraft right through to the point where I was lucky enough to start a career in flying. That made routine modelling wain although I made a couple of relevant models in my early 20s (comfort activity following a unforeseen and pretty harsh ditching by the then g/f). Started to look again at modelling once I was setlled down and married but lots of moving, long hours and lots of time away meant it was an "on hold but in progress" option. Did some more in my late 30s and early 40s when my lad was little - sowing the seeds (that was my excuse anyway...). Again a bit on and off depending upon how busy work was, no longer aviating but desk bound and lots of other responsibilities. Now I am a "weekly commuter" so the ideal time to get at the stash that has been on hold and I'm now 51. Again the collection is driven partly by my own experience so they have a specific and personal interest that will remind me of charging around in sharp, pointy aircraft in years to come. However my lad is pretty good at Warhammer figures and vehicles and has a small stash of aircraft. He has just bought a couple of aircraft of his own volition so I think he is hooked although other attractions are imminent I reckon! And there are just so many great kits out there now...
