discussion How to bend Balsa planking?

Instructions for the boat say to spray windex onto the outside of the planking whilst bending to prevent it splitting.

Windex appears to be a solution of Ammonia + Water. It's a US tradename and I was wondering if anyone has experience of what to use as a UK alternative or if mixing a solution of ammonia and water what sort of ratio to use?

The instructions are written in American as it's a US kit!

Ordinary ammonia is the usual technique Alan,but do it outside this stuff stinks and will go straight through the house and into the fridge as well.
