Howdy Guys,

I placed this in the "chit chat" forum even though it is abit of a "rant".

I few months ago, I signed up for email notices from Revell Monogram for "new merchandise". Well, I recieved a notice a while back and considered saying something here about the "content" of the email, but refrained. Now, I have just recieved another email from them, (I know.....I asked for them), with their new "merchandise".

When I think of "new mechandise" from a well known model manufacturer, I think new release models, as I am sure most anyone else would who took the time to go to their site and sign up for email notices. However, Below is what they consider ME and apparently OTHERS who signed up for their emails, are interested in:

Product IDProduct NamePrice85-2029 # 20 THE HOME DEPOT Monte Carlo 2006 $16.95 01-0203 1oz Clear Parts Cement $4.79 01-0201 Aircraft Detail Paint $12.49 01-0204 Beginner Hobby Knife $1.99 02-102140001 Classic Revell Logo White Polo (2XL) $39.95 02-102120001 Classic Revell Logo White Polo (L) $39.95 02-102110001 Classic Revell Logo White Polo (M) $39.95 02-102100001 Classic Revell Logo White Polo (S) $39.95 02-102130001 Classic Revell Logo White Polo (XL) $39.95 01-0200 Enamel Paint Set $10.49 01-0202 Fast Drying Liquid Cement $4.49 02-102240001 Monogram White Polo (2XL) $39.95 02-102220001 Monogram White Polo (L) $39.95 02-102210001 Monogram White Polo (M) $39.95 02-102230001 Monogram White Polo (XL) $39.95 02-102200001 Monogram White Polo White (S) $39.95 01-0206 Pro Hobby Knife with Spare Blades $4.75 02-2010 Revell License Plate Frame $6.95 02-102040001 Revell White Polo ( 2XL) $39.95 02-102020001 Revell White Polo ( L) $39.95 02-102030001 Revell White Polo ( XL) $39.95 02-102010001 Revell White Polo (M) $39.95 02-102000001 Revell White Polo (S) $39.95 01-0205 Sandpaper $2.99 01-0207 Sprue Cutters $16.99

Now again, I know they are there to make money....and I thought models, but apparently they have gone into the clothing business also. I made the one model listed above "RED" so it would stand out. This is very similar to the "New Merchandise" they offered in the last email. Needless to say, I am disappointed in Revell Monogram, I mean if I want spam concerning clothes,

The "lingerie stores emails" I have been getting recently for some strange reason are alot more interesting LOL.

Anyway, thanks for letting me vent,

Have a good day and sorry about the screwed up way this thread is written, the copy and paste from the email caused it lol

The answer is simple GW my friend, UNregister yourself!

Wait till you start recieving e-mails from their "carefully selected friends".

And you hit the nail on the head with the comment "only there to make money".

It is now an unfortunate fact of 21st century life that email address's are now a commodity to be bought and sold by the marketeers.

The mass marketing media has escalated since the advent of the internet,be careful whenever you sign up for anything otherwise you could be inundated with spam in your e-mail box and trash mail in your letter box, there is an easy solution to this which I have used with success, obtain the postal code of any mass marketing media office, place this into the post code/zip box, then the mail is forwarded back to these purveyors of rubbish, another way to deal with bulk rubbish mail from one company is to place it into large envelopes ( second hand ones will do ) send it back with no stamp on it,and write on the envelope 'Unwanted unsolicited mail' they soon get fed up of it !

Let it fill their own waste bins up.

Recent announcement from Royal Mail that they are increasing delivery of un-addressed items. I informed the postie all such WILL be put into post box. If we all did this they could be forced to stop the practice. We should not need to OPT-OUT.

The Post Office did a crafty trick with the junk mail, originally the postmen were only delivering a max of seven items per week, what they did was to pile envelopes full of junk mail and thus not only increase the amount of leaflets, but add yet more weight to the posties already heavy bag.
