Jackson In Action

Thread owner
Definitely captured the true side of warfare. Cold and desperate.
Another great atmospheric build.
Thank you so much, I wanted to show a vehicle negotiating the muddy, slushy terrain
of early winter somewhere in France.
I also wanted to depict the weight and suspension movement of the M36 Jackson tank destroyer.
It had a thinner armored turret than the basic Sherman and an open top to lessen weight to increase
speed and compensate for the heavier weight of the 90mm anti aircraft gun converted
to anti tank use. The open top may seem a strange feature but it's supposed purpose was to lessen
internal shock pressures and fumes from the oversized gun, hence the extra tarps across the top
to try to keep out the cold and the elements. Crew comfort was hardly a consideration back then🥶

Jim.
