Well I don't know about you lot but I'm finding it just too hot to do any modeling.

Me to Ian I dare not go up in the loft(man cave) in our mini heat wave but not to worry as I'm sure normal service will resume soon so make the most of your tees shorts n flip flops  whilst you can

I finished the dozer this morning and have done nothing else all day.


And it is meant to be hotter tomorrow.

It is warm, not been in the shed for a couple of days, saying that my back is still bad so haven't really been too interested. When I do go in I have a tower fan to keep me reasonable cool.

Yep too hot to air brush in porch, affecting paint. 


Also sweat starts dripping just sitting there are like 10 mins

We have an 'up-side down' house with the living area on top, the bedrooms in the middle and a garage/utility on the ground floor.  The living area was hot, though opening wibdows helped but then I went down to the garage for an hour to do some modelling and it was the perfect temperature!!  One up for the garage... at least in the summer....

I've got one of these thinking it would be the ultimate cooling thing, it's now stuck in a corner not used it for ages using a £5 clip on desk fan, much better

I have a similar situation, the garage and my study are on the ground floor with the living accommodation starting on the first floor. Because of the slope of the land my study is partially underground and north facing so stays a reasonable temperature all year round.

The paint is going off to quick so its leaving brush marks, the filler is going off as I make sure its in the gaps and I have sweaty man bits so I'm quitting until it cools down lol

just had to go down tip stupid mistake didn't air vehicle first!!!! flip and who thought black was good colour for interiors????? thermometer said was at 34.5!!!!


mind wonder if worth doing modelling outside see if the heat will help get those perfect joints ie fuselage halves etc lol

The glue evaporates so quickly that it's hard to get the ooze to fill the joints. I did a couple when it started warming up,before it got really hot, and one of them opened up, a very poor join indeed.


I've given up modelling but have started doing up some bicycles (one of them properly, the others to be safe and good enough to sell) so that I can clear the shed which is long overdue for replacing. I'm quite enjoying the combination of fresh air, sunshine, WD40, 'back to black' and bike oil fumes

I am really lucky as my modelling is done in an outbuilding attached to the house, it has 3ft thick stone wall which keep it cool in this weather. It also holds the house boiler keeping it warm in winter.

Well, last week the other half was on holiday so I didn't go near the modelling bench.  Sunday, I put a wooden arch kit together in the garden, painted it and set it in concrete and planted climbing roses either side.  It was hot work but I took my time and plodded through it.  Sadly, I took too much time and ended up with quite severe sunburn on my shoulders and back.


Better half returned to work on Monday but I have done nothing.  Cannot sleep due to heat and burnt back so I just mooch about  trying to find the coolest spot in the house.  Oddly, if I was still at work, I would have to wear a cardigan as the air on was too fierce.


Hope to get back to the bench by the end of the week.

As a legacy from my working days in construction (before health and safety and all the nonsense that came with it)  when just boots and shorts were the dress code, and as a consequence, I have skin like parchment, so I'm out in it from first thing in the morning......Loving every minute. It will be autumn soon enough, so I intend to get me as many rays as I can!
