I've put a few pics of this up in the old place but I thought I'd wait until we'd moved to start a dedicated topic.

The idea is to kitbash two Land Rovers into a 6x6 overland/expedition vehicle, with trailer.

I'm still figuring out the new layout so please bear with me. I'm starting out with these two kits:

The first thing was to extend the chassis. Here it is held in position to keep it square and flat

I did a similar thing with the floor:

With the axles and temporary wheels in place it was starting to take shape :

The rear bodywork was extended and fitted :

Then using a Lego jig for alignment I extended the roof also, using a piece from the canvas tilt included in the kit:

There's much more but I'm finding the picture uploading very clunky and I can't preview correctly on mobile (yet) so will continue once I've gotten used to it a bit more. It also seems we can only attach 5 pics per post so much of this won't make sense.

Teething troubles lol

An interesting idea Andy. Off to a good start. All looks neat and the two kits seem to have fitted together ok.

Next up was the trailer. By stitching together the wing and door from the other kit, along with the rear quarter panel offcut, I managed to make a decent sized panel of the correct profile, with a wheel arch cut out in the right place:

I made a roof rack for the trailer. It took 4 attempts with different materials. I ended up using some florist type wire after painstakingly removing the plastic coating (which wouldn't take any kind of glue)

Some paint was splashed on. I used automotive paint from my regular supplier. He mixed me 100ml, which once thinned became 200ml. I then thinned it even further for airbrushing, which means I could make 400-500 ml of each colour. Almost enough to give a real one a quick flick over!

I've made another rack for the truck which will accommodate a rooftop tent, along with other gubbins

Thanks guys

As if 8 wheels weren't enough I'm adding two more, in the form of an adventure bike, to pootle around on once they've made camp.

This was the nearest thing I could find in 1/35:

With a bit of chopping & changing, and a brighter colour scheme, we have this:

Thank you both.

I'm already in a great mood as Zoë has been declared cancer free and has received the first of five radiotherapy sessions today (belt & braces), so the end of that episode is in sight. Your comments add to that feeling :)

Excellent news mate sending you both the very best.
