Latest Acquisitions (2022)

has any one seen the telly programme thats on at the minute.....Scouting for Toys.....about a toy auction house......turns out its only 15 minutes away from me!!.............and today was an auction.....mostly dinky/matchbox/corgi metal car type stuff............but there was about 100 lots of model kits so i went a long just for the experience

didnt win anything i really had my eye on cos of a guy who was obviously a dealer with a bottomless pocket bidding on everything that took his fancy (why else would he buy 4 lots each of which had 6 revell escort rally cars? i kept a rough tally and he spent a couple of grand on all sorts).......but i did win a few things...........the celica is hannu mikkolas when he came second on the rac rally in 77.......and who dosnt like a volvo touring car!!.............didnt want the surtees kits but they were in with the trailer, which i did want

Wow, that City Transporter was a find. From the fifties?

Talking of John Surtees , always been a hero of mine , as we all know, the only man to win 500cc World Motorcycle Championship ( 4 times) and Formula One World Championship for Ferrari ! - I bought this BMW 507 so that I could hopefully reproduce his 1957 model given to him by Count Augusta for winning MV's first World Title. He kept the car until he sadly died in 2017 when it was sold at auction for £4 million .s-l1600.jpg_102519675_capture2.jpg_102519678_capture.jpg

What were the prices like? I've seen the TV shows, and there only seemed to be two types of bidders - collectors & dealers.........................

It’s a Matchbox re-issue of an AMT kit, it’s in the 1980 Matchbox catalog that was one of my main items of reading material in the early 1980s :)

somethings were reasonable.......some were stupidly high.....case of doing the homework before hand, working out the max you will pay, cos you dont have time to work it out when its happening......i would have had more if it wasnt for me thinking 'shall i or sharnt i?'......do that and its too late! lol....youve just got say 'sod it, im having it'

there was a guy sat near me who was obviously a dealer cos he was buying anything that took his fancy and was happy to push the price up to more than the rest of us were willing to pay

Not exactly 1/35 ,(Which is my favourite scale!),but they were SO EXPENSIVE that i`m pleased she didn`t go there!!,
I`m a massive fan of these ICONIC machines.... got flown out to the Gulf on a mix of these and C130`s many moons ago!!
Lovely stuff.... i may look for a C130 later on!!:tongue-out2:

As you say mate - many moons ago; the noise and smell still remains undiluted even after all these times though I suspect!

Totally Jakko's fault, this arrived today..

/ don't worry Andy, Bergepanther is progressing...

Cool, I like Matchbox kits :)

From Germany today arrived this:

With no thanks to the mail company, which claims it tried to deliver it a week and a half ago “but nobody was home.” Yeah, right. For some reason it did show up at my door today, despite being marked for return to sender because I hadn’t collected it … of course I hadn’t, because they hadn’t told me it was supposed to have been delivered … sigh … I’m very puzzled by all this, but will go and complain to them in a bit.

In any case, I now have the accessory I’ll need for the M32B1 :)

And an hour or so later:

I need this for just the driver’s compartment interior, but as I mentioned in the M32 thread, buying a full kit that can be built without those interior bits is about as expensive as buying a resin set with just those bits …

WOW!!! You folks have got some really great stuff for the stash and projects. The only thing missing from all these goodies, is what I ended up with,

Dat's right, all I got was the kitchen sink!!!.......The first part of my re-modelling project in the apartment...No Kits, no kits, no kits!!! I've been a good boy...................Somebody slap me......................

Needed some new Brushes, didn`t wanna shell out for more W&N`s ...... so i bought these.......
IMG20220521150316.jpg
Not used them yet,(obviously!),but on close inspection they seem pretty promising:thinking:.....
.......Also,in lieu of the forthcoming "Spitfire" GB,i wanted some groundcrew,(Want to place the Plane on a small Dio),i already have an ICM Kit for the build, and found a well reviewed set, also by ICM,for about £10,"Bargain" thought i:thumb2:,luckily though, before i clicked to buy,i continued to browse....... and THEN i came across exactly the same set of figures, but this time they`re included with an actual Mk IX full kit:surprised: ...... and for the princely sum of £16 :dizzy:..... so,£6 for a full Spit kit!!:flushed:
Therefore,(and NO,i didn`t need the Spit),i thought,"Sod It"....... and sacrificed a few more of my Devonian Groats:blow-kiss:.........
...... ere tiz.......

The plane will probably never get built as i`m more than happy with the one i already have, but i just couldn`t resist!!:tears-of-joy:,
