That's a nice selection there Jens, with possibly the exception of the Panther...it's a bit long in the tooth now.
nice do like that one,Jens,
should be a nice build fir you,![]()
I can't understand why Tamiya is flogging this kit when they have so many really well made, and beautiful, models? This surely can't be good for reputation nor sales???
So in short - stay away from the Tamiya Panzerkampfwagen V Panther Sd.kfz.171 Ausf.A 1/35 no: 35065 unless you're really into vintage (I suppose?) wonky kits for sentimental reasons!

From now on I'm going to check the best before date, a.k.a. the manufacturing date, on every future models I might consider in order not to do the same mistake again.
Normally I wouldn't be upset about a vintage model, but there's vintage and "vintage"...
I have been looking at the Takom King Tiger 505 with Henschel turret and zimmerit and interior though as the next build for the summer, but I've done a pretty thorough investigation on that one to know it's good quality!
Need to finish painting the current models first though.

Your wife dud you proud there Tommy.View attachment 283337 View attachment 283338 Had a nice surprise earlier today, these beauties arrived, courtesy of the wifeyView attachment 283339

Thanks John, I must be doing something rightYour wife dud you proud there Tommy.
Regarding the Panther yes, a lot more expensive - but it doesn't matter how cheap a model is if it's terrible imhonice when you can afford it.....its over 4 times the price of the tamiya panther
Jens, your best bet is the Scalemates website. You can get a lot of information there, as well as links to online reviews which can be very useful. I've saved myself from buying a few dogs in the past!
Not all of the vintage Tamiya kits are poor, just the odd few. For instance their Panzer II can still turn out nice & this one was moulded in 1970!
The Panther, their first Jagdtiger (too short), KV-2...all should be avoided when there's much better options out there.
Wow!! That's a great haul, Robert!!
Happy birthday![]()
