I thought that myself when I fumbled inside the box a little flimsy and thin in parts. I'm in West Bromwich Paul and all three are very close with the furthest one being 7.5 miles away all are very well stocked and have good variation. Always looking for sale items as I don't like full price tickets. I like to walk away feeling like I've had some kind of a deal.

for some reason i thought you were east not west midlands

you will also find there no locating peg/holes on any parts, and bits like steps and hooks just have to be CA glued on

but it does build up nice if you are careful with it

Not exactly a big order but I want my Takom King Tiger to be special so I've ordered proper metal tracks for it!
I know I haven't got so many models under my belt yet but I'm not too fond of non-"working" tracks so far. Perhaps I haven't got the hang of it yet but I prefer tracks where the separate links are not glued in position. The ones I've done so far are "passable" but there are things I'm not happy with.

Anyhow, ordered some Friulmodel ATL-16 tracks and I hope it was the correct choice?

Luckily they can be removed if they don't fit for some reason. (I hope the drive sprockets are compatible. I've searched the interwebs and found vague information that ATL-16 should work with Takom King Tigers)

I've also searched for aftermarket 8,8 cm Pzgr.Patr.40/43 Kw.K.43 ammunition, and found really nice ones by Eureka XXL. Sadly it'll just be too expensive to do a full kitout, so I'll have to do my best with the included ammo+racks.
I've looked in my big box of old and odd rifle ammunition to see if I could find something that could pass for replacement ammunition but no such luck. That would've been really lucky though if it'd worked!

I'm not going to acid weather these track links I think. Just primer and Dark Tracks (Ammo of Mig) and then a light sanding to expose some bare metal on the contact surfaces. Subject to change obviously ;)

Good luck with the Fruil tracks Jens! Each one is held by teeny tiny pieces of wire that need snipping - takes a while!
There's also a product called Blacken It which you immerse the tracks in to get rid of the metal look. It's easier than painting them.

Have a look for AFV Club 88 rounds. They're reasonably priced.

...and it's already on the bench. Next up will probably be AMK's 1/48 MiG-31 B/BM or Trumpeter's 1/48 Su-24D.

I can remember which YouTube channel it was, but I've seen someone use straightened staples for the link pins. Apparently the square section works better??

It was a video from Andy's Hobby Headquarters where he used staples with one of the legs bent back and it's not a bad idea at all since the leg that you're bending back won't be 100% straight it'll lock the pin in place!
I did plan to use that method since it's really making sense and you don't have to use CA glue to fasten the pins.

Here's the video for those of you who haven't seen this:

Thanks Bob for bringing it up! :)

Just got a massive amount of weathering products and a bottle of Mr Hobby RLM 66 as it had run out in my Mr Hobby paint range. I rather like the AK Range and the AMMO MIG stuff as well.
Cheers, John

what is the code for the top one? I don’t think I stock that one.

AK-2070 AK Interactive. I am testing it, and it is brilliant, and is now replacing all my current panel washes.
Cheers, John

I was doing a little bit of browsing yesterday, before this kit suddenly decided to add itself to my shopping cart...
