White spirits to thin and clean. It will look darker when you put it on and turn lighter when it dries.

A motorised Saladin — I don’t think I’ve ever seen an actual motorised Tamiya kit. However, I don’t think the M42 is a first production run, as ISTR the machine guns in the lower left corner to be a later addition (to the kit and the box art). However, I never bought or built one, so my memory may be playing tricks on me :)

Sorry all, saw the 1992 date on the side and thought it wasn't older than that just looked it up and the originals are from 1970...:upside:
Jakko, you are correct sir and I have a motorized Mk.IV in the stash too but the tracks won't work with the weathering and mud involved.
The Saladin might run correctly though, will need to find instructions when I start at it as it has none...

For the knowable what is the Italeri on the box represent, a joint exercise or a reboxing .
Any way looks a nice kit. The artists palette knives are really light and may be just the job for the application of the Zim material.
John.

italerai and tamiya have often 'borrowed' each others moulds

i use a palette knife similar to the #1 but its a little more 'pointy'.......best tool ever for working with filler

Thanks Paul for that answer.
I think the knives will be ok, really cheap from Evilbay

It’d probably be more correct to say that Tamiya reboxes some European kits (not just Italeri) for the Japanese market every so often.

I have the original Italeri boxing ...... no people in it , and a few new tool boxes too by the looks of it.
If chains are provided for the lifting mech , that is new too,

The figures are the same as those in the engine maintenance set that’s also in John’s photo, so the extra tool boxes are probably too. There also seem to be some jerry cans in the Tamiya release — lifted from another Tamiya set, I suppose.

True: Revell’s kits, for example, just say “Made in Ukraine” or something if they sell another manufacturer’s kit in a Revell box.

John,
at least Tamiya do credit Italeri on the box- how many other makers do this?
Dave

Dave and Jakko .
Yes, nice touch, can't think I've ever seen another manufacturer do that either.
John.
