Using Lifecolor and having problems.

The problems are splattering.

Using a .35 Iwata. PSI 20.

Both thinned (15% approx) and used neat. Same problems. Used different colours.

Airbrush is clean. After using Lifecolor each time cleaned the airbrush and used Vallejo Air with out problems. Also tried Lifecolor with Vallejo thinners and had the same splattering effect.

Any ideas or have others had the same problem.

Laurie, call me a rebel but I don't believe in painting by pressure, set your compressor to max, probably about 30 p.s.i and you should have no problem. I use a needle valve at the airbrush inlet and use this to get the right pressure, but for Lifecolor it's usually 30 p.s.i my comp. max.

Used Lifecolor for years with my Iwata Revolution CR x. 0.5 nozzle neat with no problems. Derek

Try the life colour thinners if you already don't, it doesn't seem to like other thinners. I use UMP thinners but have too thin a lot more than usual. 60-40.

i always stay with the thinners of the paint manufacturer Martin. In this case I thought I would also try, after problems with Life thinners, the Vallejo thinners.

But not given up and will experiment. Problem is you get used to your "normal" paint and its ways. In my case Vallejo Air.

Well Mike this is a strange one. Used up all the tips but obviously there are not enough of them in this case.

But just wondering if I have been unlucky with a couple of the paints which are in a bad batch.

On my Merlin Helicopter I used Lifecolor as a wash (just thinned down paint) and did not have any problems.

So as they say back to the drawing board.

laurie do not mix different brand's producst. it seems the problem is lifecolour paint and vallejo thinner go into chemical reaction. i experienced same when i mix vallejo paint with tamiya thinner. all brands use same pigments but they use different binders. this makes it tricky. i am not experienced with lifecolour product but if you dont have lifecolour thinner maybe you can give a try to synthetic thinner, alcohol or tap water, which are global thinners for acrylic, just to see you will have same problem. also you can give a try to regular cologne, it smells nice i am not kidding it has big amount of alcohol inside

I always preach just not mixing as you say Saak. The only reason I tried Vallejo Thinners was to ascertain if that would solve the problem I was having with Lifecolor and Lifecolor thinners.

With Tamiya Safak there will be problems as they use a lacquer base and Vallejo,Lifecolor and Mig acrylics are water based. Never used an alcohol based for thinning. I know that it is great though for removing acrylics purposefully and also accidentally.

Thanks for your interest Safak. I am experimenting this afternoon with Lifecolor to un-ravel the mystery. Will let you know the results.

as i said before i am not experienced with lifecolour. this case i wrote alcohol and water for experiment. alcohol and tap water are the last resort when you run out of brand thinner & fast experiments. and they work. i agree about lacquer base and water base, i never tried thinnig tamiya with tap water. or vallejo with alcohol etc.. i dont know it will work in that way. my english is not so well, i am sorry if i said something wrong. i was just trying to say experiment it with whatever you can get easily w/o brand thinner. if it is water based try with tap water if you dont have lifecolour thinner right now. sorry again

i just want to show you an example from my past experiment. this kit is builded by me to test&practice painting with airbrush. that time i was using different brands to choose which brand i will continue with. so didnt buy brand thinner

white&black colours: Tamiya acrylic + alcohol

grey tones&steel colours: Revell Aqua + tap water

varnish: tamiya + not thined

now i am using tamiya thinner, but i know i can use alcohol if i need.

Safak I would not worry about your English very high standard especially for a second language.

thank you for your compliment. my mother language is turkish. english is secon language. also i know a little lazuri which is a local language in northern turkey. theese days i am attending french lessons. je suis français etudiant but i started learning it 2 months ago
