Is anyone going to the Lincoln IPMS show, the new incarnation of the old Southwell show, this Sunday 23 October?

Lincoln Scale Model Show – 2022
October 23 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm BST
Lincoln Christ-hospital School
Wragby Road
Lincoln, LN2 4PN
This is a new venue for the old Lincoln and Newark Expo.

Well, I just got home. Very disappointed with this show, venue is smaller than Southwell, the catering was a burger van outside (not good in today's torrential rain) and very few traders. Some brilliant models on the club tables and in the competition though.
Apparently this will be the location of this show for the next 2 years - I won't be going.

Sorry to hear that, Pete. Lousy weather and hardly any traders doesn't make for a good time. I do have to say, at least you have shows to go to. Here, we have about 3 a year (if lucky) and only one is under a 3 hour drive to get to......

I drove for over 2 hours Allen, partly due to the awful weather.

Totally zero down here, bugger all!
I think your nearest IPMS branches are in Cheltenhm and Bristol!

Pete's comments must be very discouraging to those guys who spent a lot of their time in organising the Lincoln show. It is all too easy to dismiss someone else's efforts and not appreciate the financial risks involved in running a local model show. Been there, done that and got the Tee shirt, so to speak.
If it is traders he is primarily interested in then maybe just a yearly Telford trip might be the answer, or maybe organise a bigger and better local show than the folks at Lincoln.

I'm not "dismissive of their efforts" Noel, merely disappointed with the day. I don't see why the organisers should feel discouraged by my disappointment. I'm also aware that I don't know the reasons why the show moved from Southwell, or why this particular venue was chosen - perhaps it was the only venue that was available and/or within budget.
I have some experience of organising events, although not local model shows, and I've always welcomed all feedback, whether positive or negative. Too many people pretend to have enjoyed an event while vowing to avoid it in future, which doesn't help the organisers at all.
