Like to go but the hassle of driving into london puts me off.

Been there before and it was great.

Maybe there is a local club putting a coach or mini bus together for it from Kent area of the crountry..

Alan, a good point perhaps but it is a long time since I last attended. I used to be a regular, but not for model making - I found it a good source of cut-price gadgets and tools for the laboratory/workshop part of my factory. But the last couple of times I was there (not Alex Palace surely?) it had gone down the pan for me - more toy stuff than serious. I wonder what it has today? As it is some time since you were there you can't help!

Hi Alan

The list was on the cover of engineering in miniature last month. Looks like there will be a lot more on show this time round. last year was a bit of a let down and totaly eclipsed by The Ascot model engineer exhibition.

if your going let me know what day and il try to meet you with some aluminum plate. And yep im 15 minutes from the Bluebell railway.

Cheers kevin

I was thinking of going there on Saturday 19th. That would be great if you could bring a couple of bits of ally plate too! Have any other bits turned up yet?

Many Thanks,

Alan

Model Engineering show was good - there where some absolutely beautiful locos on the Tonbridge Model Engineering display! Incredible workmanship and superb finish too! Some really nice open wagon models too. On a smaller scale and on lower on the other end of the level of perfection, the 16mm association display was rather nice too! Spent a few quid and picked up a few tools after poking through the trade stalls a fair bit! No big lavish purchases this time tho.

Great little modified mamod too - looked scrappy as hell - i.e. very well weathered and oily but ran a treat too.

I thought it was more a display of model engineering this year though, previously there's been a lot more plastic kit and scale model stuff - most of the trade stands had a much heavier engineering slant than in the past too.

I was a little dissapointed that the R/C displays was mainly Tamiya Trucks though - there where some great 1/6th scale Armortek models which looked superb, and they only got a table top to shunt back and forth on! Great little Kubel Wagon too - with some nice animated r/c controlled figures too!
