discussion Luftwaffe colours?

Hi folks,

anyone knows what the standard luftwaffe markings for Fw 190 F8s were. The instruction sheet on my model says they are a dark green and a gray, but those on websites look like light and dark greys to me.

Any help is appreciated. Will post the completed model!

Hi Adrian. The "definitive" answer is a bit date dependent but a scheme of RLM75 (grauviolet or mittelgrau) RLM83 (dunkel-grun) over the usual RLM76 is entirely possible anytime after July/ August 1944. The earlier 74/75/76 scheme,the two greys you are referring to, continued to be applied by some contractors for some time after this and was allowed, as were various substitutions, until existing stocks were used up. Unless you have good evidence to the contrary I'd do the mottling in a combination of the two upper camouflage colours.

By this time the wheels were really starting to fall off for the Luftwaffe and many odd things happened.

Edit,I like the grey/green scheme as I have modelled a few Luftwaffe subjects and most of them wear basically the two greys!!

Here it is on a recently completed Bf109G-14/AS.
