Hi all!

As per usual, an unusual name for an aircraft. The Super Ostrich originates in the Macross/Robotech universe, this trainer is fitted with fast packs to enable the craft to escape the earths atmosphere and to do space flight. I think in the episode that this appeared the "hero" flew Minmie to Jupiter to escape the pressures of her budding singing career. Not sure what the thing is about music and singing the Macross series, but I sure do like the crafts and mecha!

This braile scale, so it's gonna be fun with my sausage fingers.

This will be followed by the Gerwalk variant, probably clipping a rooftop as decends to street level to engage invading Zentradi forces on the streets of Macross City.
For those who do not know what a Gerwalk looks like, see below.

Interesting kit. Never seen any of the shows/programs, but pulled up my seat. Nice start by the way.

Well, Started throwing some under coat and colour at the kit.

That Mr. Colour surfacer 1500 is something else.

The insides of the FAST packs are done in two shades of Alclad 2 aluminium and sealed with gloss for the pin wash.
Main exhausts in steel.webp
Main exhausts are finished in steel (Mr Colour).

Using a very light pressure has deliverd great results.

Onwards and upwards, trying to figure the best way to paint this kit has me scratching my head.

Till next time.🫡

Wow, this has been a mission. This paintjob required huge amounts of masking.

I purposely did not spray solid, to make it look more worn and used.

Figuring out a painting process has been quite a bit of mental gymnastics.

Dry fit booster pack and wings + fuselage.

It's been fun so far, still a ways to go.

It may not seem that I have done much, but the devil is in the detail.
More work is still to be done.

Below are the sub assemblies in progress, touched up the lighter paint application, the front end of the engine intakes are assembled, the "arms" have been touched up as well. The radar bits are ready for assembly and the booster nacelles need to be glued together. The black parts are lining up for their paint job.

The image below shows the rear portion of the engine nacelles in work on their paint job, prior to mounting the undercarrage, exhaust nozzles and the the FAST packs.

I'll mask the edges and apply the orange mix. The Mr Color paints are fantastic to work with.

Well that all for now, hope the dad's had a great fathers day. 🫡

Great paintwork, it already has that lived-in look.

Mr Color is my favourite paint and makes up the majority of my airbrush range.
