Acrylic over tamiya acrylic should be fine, you might get cracking with enamel over tamiya acrylic though.

I use Vallejo acrylics and for me the gloss and satin don't work too well - they never seem to have any shine to them at all. The matt, as others have said, are very matt, although I do find it peels off quite easily when handling. I'll need to find another brand I think.

Alex - do you make sure it cures properly for 24 hours before handling?

I use it all the time and do not find it a problem. I always leave 24 hours between coats of paint and varnish and most certainly before applying masking tape.

Wow Alex do not understand that. Found all 3 varnishes as Barry has said work perfectly.

I do not thin the varnishes. I also give a good coat just enough to give a slight wet look.

Not had any problems with peeling.

Alex try the Polyurethene varnishes produced by Vallejo which they say is more robust. Have the Poly gloss & this works well.
