Hi folks,

I'm back again to pick your brains - you were warned!

As I'm still fairly new to modelling, I'm still looking for good sources for all my bits and pieces - tools, adhesives, fillers, additives etc. etc. It would be nice if I could find a single source for all this stuff rather than buying it in odd bits here and there.

It probably sounds daft but I'm not too fussed about finding the cheapest prices. If I can find a single supplier, what I save on postage buying in dribs and drabs will make up for anything extra on the prices.

You folks must get your supplies from somewhere! Is there anywhere in the UK you can recommend please?

PS I also asked a few days ago if anyone has heard anything about the new 1/144 Bismarck which is due sometime this year. (It was as a PS in another forum so maybe it was missed). It's from a company called Soar Art (who made the 1/35 Dora railway gun which I really enjoyed building) and was shown last year at the Nuremburg toy festival.

I get most my stuff from these guy's

Netmerchants > Scale Models

And these guy's

Hiroboy.com - Specialising in Scale Car and Bike Model Kits, Accessories, Paints, etc.

Both are very good

I deal with Hiroboy too (Motorcycle kits, Colour matched paints etc) and also Modelsforsale.com and both of them seem to be 100%. Both give prompt delivery and "good attitude"

Thanks for the link to Netmerchants. I ordered some stuff from them yesterday and it arrived this morning! It doesn't get any better than that. Cheers!

Yeah. My nearest hobby store is a Modelzone. It may be the exception to the rule; but as far as the staff are concerned at my local branch, their attitude is "We can't get it if it isn't on the shelf" - and their accessory shelves between them could just about hold a couple of 1/48 WWII single engine jobs!

Still, at least I can get my Revell paints there!

Thanks Andy. I've had a quick look and they seem to have a comprehensive list of things. I'll add this to my favourites along with the other sites which have been mentioned.

Just a quickie though. I checked their special offer list 'cos I'm always looking out for bargains. The first aircraft kit I bought last year when I restarted modelling was Revell's 1/48 Ju 52 civilian version. Models2u have got this up on special for £28. I got mine from my local hobby shop. It had been "remaindered" and they were selling it for £10 brand new and still sealed - I couldn't resist it!

You are like me mate, i do the same. I brought the Cessna because it was such a good kit and at a bargain price. It will sit in the box for months, but it is there when im ready. I have found the site to be the best so far for building materials. Glad i could help.

Hi Gern,

We offer free UK postage on all our Flags, Decals. lettering Etc. Sail-RC.com

But for other things such as adhesives, tools and other bits, Look on eBay as there are now an increasing amount of sellers who offer Model Making tools with Combined/Reduced postage.

Relish models is where I get a lot of my stuff. Excellent service, I recently ordered a model "after hours" on Friday and had it Tuesday morning! Also if Graham doesn't have it in not in stock he says so. You won't order something and not see it for weeks!

Steve

Not sure where you are exactly but if you don't mind a trip into Birmingham then Parabellum on Vyse street (Jewellery quater) carries a good selection of stuff, particularly paints. I don't know how they fit it all in the shop! Check opening hours (website) as they only open for a few hours a day towards the end of the week.

Hi Steve,

I'm in Stourbridge so Vyse St is not too far away. I'll add them to my list and go have a look next time I need anything.

Thanks

Hi there.

That's good timing! I'm finishing off my Airfix 1/24 Stuka and was wondering where to get the swastikas for the tail.

Do you have any?

Gern
