just wanted to make you aware of a company i have now used several times, macs mouldings,

i have no connection with this business other than being a happy customer.. but check out the quality resin fittings and mouldings- generally at larger scales, - notice they also do larger scale items for garden railways and stuff for model tanks and trucks

there latest additions are lifeboat style window frames.. .they are fantastic.......

This guy is obviously a keen modeller too looking at the pics on his site with some fine models there. I hope he does well with his business, a Modeller making stuff for Modellers, always the best type of business to deal with rather than some big corporate company just in it for the money !!

Hi all

I ordered a few bits off him, so will post pictures and overall opinion when they arrive.

It will be nice to see what they are like, as the biggest problem with home cast stuff is air bubbles in the fine detail.

i tend to agree, i must admit i have only had one air bubble to fill out of the 40 or so fittings i have had from him, plus at that cost i dont mind !

Hi all

The few bits I ordered arrived promptly, and I was happy with them. While the effort he puts into making the parts in the first place is top notch, without sounding nasty, some of the moulds need more thought putting into them to get a more user friendly end product. Moulding is not just stick something to a board, build a box round it and pour on silicon, with careful thought a mould can be made in such a way as to let all the air out as the resin is poured in. The fire extinguisher for instance was cast in halves, where it could have been cast the main cylinder in a one piece mould, and the handle and hose in a separate two piece mould. The other thing was the oil drum which had a hole in the bottom, and I wanted to lay it down, so it needed a top and bottom. However it seems most oil drums have a hole in one end so that’s me being fussy, nothing to do with him. (I got round that by making my own.)

All said and done, if you don’t mind a bit of assembly this is the guy to go for. Quick turnaround, and a nice packaging touch to.
