Modern Russian green

I see this vehicle first came out in 1958 , so if the modern colours would do you could try .

Dare say you could find the basic green separately and do your own shading .or there this .The Vallejo no 012 shows an American dark green if you bought it separately. Looks about right to me looking at Russian trucks .

The early paints ww2 could be many differing shades of green , although we tend to stick to 4 BO for that era. .

From doing a little research just now, what you want is a colour referenced as HB-518 by the Soviet/Russian military (actually ХВ-518 — that’s not eks bee, but Cyrillic ha ve). This seems to vary quite a bit in practice, though, so most medium shades of military green will probably do.
hi Steve...have been gathering lots of info on zil-131 and earlier zis-157 and to be honest I could post a dozen photos and none would be the same colour!!! shades range from a dark glossy green to a light matt moss green--having said that if u are not modelling a specific vehicle then Tamiya xf-81 dark green would probably be a good starting point though as John has said there a lot of good sets available now which is where I would usually start as I don't have a large selection of paints in my stock---doesn't sound like your usual projects??

John & Jakko: Thanks guys, that's pointed me in the right direction.
Martin: Having just completed two scratchbuilds of the same vehicle (the LiftKing LK-67C container handler) and sent them to the shipping agent for onward transfer to Canada, I needed something a bit different, as I was starting to feel a bit 'jaded'. Most of my past projects have been scratch builds of vehicles that have never (as far as I can tell) been done before at 1/24 scale. Having to make two of the same vehicle was a bit of a pain to be honest, as all the problems and challenges get solved on the first build and the second is just 'cutting plastic'...
So, I decided to build a 1/35 scale Russian Zil-131 truck using the ICM kit, with some of the rear sides cut away, and a Meng ZU-23-2 anti-aircraft gun mounted rear-facing on the back. I'm waiting for a set of resin wheels and tyres to be delivered from Germany, to replace the rubber ones that come with the kit.
