Great model of a great plane!

I can remember as a kid (in the early 80's) going to the air shows and open days at Woodford and watching the vulcan (amongst others) doing low passes and near vertical climbs.

My ears still ring thinking about it:grinball2:

Hiya Like your vulcan did you brush or spray it? We have a real Vulcan at Carlisle Airport (Solway aviation)Its just been repainted and its looking Great!

Glad you like the model! I have painted the model going on the same exact camo pattern as the one that is being reconditioning to fly again at british airshows, but they have not quite got there yet but i am looking forward to going to see it when it does!!! Tell me more about the vulcan at carlisle, is it flying?

no hasn`t flown for at least 15 yrs, The cockpit is still intact and for a small fee you can still go into it. there is also a F4 phantom albeit without engines, a lightining and the cockpit from The AEW Nimrod witch you can look around but I digress the vulcan has just been repainted and is only missing the four exhaust cans but apart from that it is in good condition. the tail marking has a flying elephant (What sqdn?).

Sounds like a plane grave yard!! But very cool tho! Have you got any pics of the vulcan, that would be very cool to see. Oh by the way...had a little look into what could of been the sqd. to have the flying elephant markings, check this that i cut and pasted from a web site!

The Avro Vulcan was the worlds first delta winged heavy bomber. the first prototype flew on the 30th August 1952 and the first production Vulcan flew in February 1955. The first Avro Vulcan's arrived for service with the Royal Air Force with 230 operational Conversion Unit (OCU) at RAF Finningley in May 1956. with the first squadron to receive the Vulcan in July 1957 was 83 squadron. In April 1968 Bomber Command merged into the Newly created Strike Command with eight Squadrons being equipped with Vulcan's. A terrain Hugging variant was introduced (the Vulcan SR2) in 1973, to all squadrons except no. 27 squadron (Flying Elephants) which was a Maritime reconnaissance Sqd. The Last Major role for the Avro Bomber was the bombing of Argentinean Airfields in the Falkland Islands During The Falklands Conflict

No it`s not a grave yard far from it! all the aircraft are displayed so you can see what aviation was like before airforces (RAF) was like before tonkas and F16`s took over they have about a dozen aircraft as well as missiles,engines(Jet and Piston) ejector seats models and the history of nearby RAF Spadeadam.
