The thing is, why the hell did they let this come to Ken telling them to sod off? I mean, they could have halved the stress by getting even a second hand mower-they can be had for £500+. Just tightwads.

True but the two do come as a team and I'm sure his Missus does a fine job for the old battle axe, people do change, the question is will it last. If all they were worried about was getting their grass cut they could have hired it out. Also that John Deere cost a pretty penny {top of the line} no paultry investment. As long as they stick to their newly won principles and nip any non-sense in the bud they will fare well.................Jim

Yeah, the Craftsman colors are a bit grim but they are strong and reliable and cost about half the price of a John Deere

Yes well she now knows I could get a job so not reliant on her, and even better now our daughter and her other half are looking for a house to buy as an investment and have told us if we want they will rent it to us for the cost of the mortgage, so result there I really enjoyed dropping that into a conversation with her, so she now knows she has no hold over either of us.

That's the way to go, some autonomy on your part will do wonders for the situation. Keep the reins tight and you'll be just fine
