There is going to be a WWII event at Clumber Park at the beginning of June. They are currently building a 1:1 scale mock up of the vehicle in the pic seen here being watched by Churchill. Does anyone have any info on it as the boards for the display haven’t gone up yet?

Mick,

It's a prototype trench digging machine - first tested in Clumber Park. 1941.

MIL Mod April 1979 has an article on "Nellie" - if you'd like a scan let me know

That's brilliant Pete, the folk at Clumber have done a brilliant job with their model.

I see on the MilMod drawings that it’s 77 feet long, so that would make a model about 67 cm long in 1/35, yet straightforward enough that it could be a very good scratchbuilding project … If only I had the room and expected myself to see it through to the end :)
