Yes the best meal of the year.

Got the neaps & tatties but going in search first thing tomorrow for the Haggis. It is getting rare & we forgot to get one. O tut Pauline.

Ye pow'rs, wha mak mankind your care,

And dish them out their bill o' fare,

Auld Scotland wants nae skinking ware,

That jaups in luggies;

But if ye wish her gratfu' prayer,

Gie her a Haggis!

So get one eat one & you will feel better & want another one.

Do not forget the gravy. A nice malt liberally dished over the Haggis plus why not a tot in a big glass.

Also after eating all this Haggis you need. Cranachan. Raspberries, double cream, single malt whisky & oats. Ouch so good for you !!!!!!!!!

O yes roll on tomorrow.

Haven't had Haggis for years, we used to get slices of it in batter from chip shops in Corby when I was lad. Much better than the deep fried pies.

the mcsweens haggis factory is actually in our little industrial estate about 500 yards away.

if you pm your address at some time Laurie we can do the same as michael and send one down to you. it'll survive in the freezer for up to 12 months due to the ingredients.

Absolutely right Laurie! I love the pepperyness of the haggis and the neaps and tatties are the perfect accompaniment. No other veg works!

The wife and I went to Burns night supper last Saturday on Canvey island of all places.Cockaleeky soup, followed by Haggis,tatties and neeps.Then Clootie pudding and Edinburgh rock for afters.Lovely.Im English by the way.Got a taste for Haggis when I toured the Highlands on my motorbike in the eighties.

Dave that must have been quite a meal. Going to look all those up & have yet another Burns Night.

Up early searching for the Haggis even if I have to slum it & go to Guernsey.

Oi! I envy you all! It's been many a year since having Haggis, and I haven't yet had the opportunity to taste Athole Brose ("single malt whisky & oats")! I used to have some recipes, and once participated as a judge for a Haggis contest (all the Haggis were prepared by youngsters) in a Creative Anacronist do (had a couple friends that were C.A.'s), though I had a little assistance from a knowledgeable older lady in picking out the winner!

Wish I knew what happened to my old Scots recipies! I used to favor making scones (the real thing, on the griddle, not the stuff passed off at Starbucks as scones), made the plain and the spiced, I seem to remember 4 basic versions.

This thread makes me hungry! Got to go eat something!

So found a Haggis a Charles Macloud.

Just finished our Haggis Neaps etc. delicious. Got the remainder for another go on Sunday.

Cranachan first class going to suffer tomorrow.

Don't know if i'm going to open a can of worms, but I'm not a fan of haggis, or scotch for that matter. Had one once and didn't like the taste or texture.

People here are discussing whisky blends etc ..... i haven't touched alcohol for the last 31 years and that amazes some people i tell !!!

I always have haggis. It was followed a day later with Cullen Skink but this is the second year she forgot! (She came from Croydon.)
