I like it very much, the only problem (and it could be my eyes to be honest) is that the aluminium seems a bit bitty...probably me or the monitor. Lovely work on the office.

Si:)

Nice work , I agree with si it does appear a bit bitty on the close up shots but you won't see that when its sitting on a shelf so I wouldn't worry about that I'd be happy with it :)

Hi and welcome to the forum.

The P51 looks good like what's already been said the Aluminum does look a little bitty and also just a little bit nit pickie the sanding and re scribing on the intake underside.

But I would still be happy with it nice job for a first kit back after a while

This is a great build, agree with the above and bear in mind metal finishes require a lot of smoothing down/polishing between coats and are not the easiest finishes to get right, well done.

Thank you all for your amazing and helpful feedback.

I appreciate it very much

I agree, it's a good job.

What did you use for the silver/aluminium finish? There are quite a few options these days for this most difficult of finishes.

Cheers

great build do real like it and agree with the above, but always next build will over come that, ;)

Overall a great first build back, my only comment would be on the choice of aluminium? I've got the same kit and its calling for more of a chrome finish, though I'll be using a buffable steel on mine when I get round to it.

Otherwise a great job :)

I used alcalad 2 grey primer with alcalad 2 polished aluminium paint then alkaloid aqua gloss finish

Thanks. I'm a big fan of Alclad, though other options are available :)

I agree with the comments aluminium is a real pig to get right and I had problems when I built my Thunderbolt a while back, I didn't get the finish I intended but I was happy with the results in the end.

Polished aluminium needs a gloss black undercoat to produce the polished 'near' mirror look.

Oh ok, didn't know it was necessary. Thank you

That's correct and I would use it for any highly polished Alclad finish.

I'm not sure that a highly polished aluminium would be an appropriate finish for a WW2 fighter aircraft like the P-51, and in the particular case of the Mustang the wings were not natural metal. They were filled, sanded, undercoated and finally sprayed with an aluminium paint which is not the same thing at all.

Cheers
