Hi all. This is my entry for the pre 1990 race car group build. It's the later boxing with the small pe fret included, adding to the usual Tamiya fayre. Hopefully I'll be trying out a set of aftermarket belts for the first time, and adding a bit of extra detail where I can, and set it off in a small duo. Well, that's the plan anyway!

Can't wait to get cracking with it..

Cheers, Neil

Thanks gents, no pressure then.....!

So, I've made a start, mocking up a few bits just to get an idea of what goes where.

I've noticed that the age of the moulds is starting to show on these older Tamiya kits. Some nice seam lines and a bit of flash to clean up, and mating faces less than square without a bit of work.

And there was me thinking it was going to fall together..... ;)

So, the plans of what wiring and plumbing was giving me a headache, so I took a break, and started on the rear wing assembly. Fairly straightforward, but again a fair amount of clean up was needed.

Also dug out the figures I plan to use. I ought to point out that that's not my painting, I got it like that, honest!!! I'll have to re-do him, as I haven't got any reference of Mr Scheckter wearing that particular shade of lipstick....

Cheers, Neil

Its your lipstick really isnt it Neil.

Looking good, I'm working on the Lotus's engine now, can I ask what you used for the fuel pipe? I'm not sure I've got anything the right sort of diameter. I made the job nice and easy by snapping a set of the injectors on the sprue while trying to get clever and remove the sprue to prime them while partially connected. So I'll have to repair them first in any case...

Hi all. A bit of progress....

I was going to try out the Studio 27 (?) suspension units, but I'd invested in some brass tubing a while back, so decided to have a crack at doing my own. Seems to be going OK so far, we'll have to see what they look like when they're painted up!

Also part hollowed out the brake cooling ducts a bit, and resized and drilled the exhaust ends. The manifolds are proving "interesting".... ;)

Jambo, I'm really sorry, but I have no idea where the tubing came from!!! I have a tub that I put anything I fine lying around in that looks like it might come in handy sometime, and I happened to find it in there.....

I guess small scale hoarding comes in handy sometimes.... ;)

Cheers, Neil

I like the way you've done that suspension looks very good. That engine looks very proper, good work so far
